Tomato "Giraffe" - unique keeping quality of fruits, up to 6 months!
(Vegetable experimental station TSHA, 1991; authors: Tarakanov G.I., Gavrish S.F., Morev V.V., Nazina S.L.).
Tall, late-ripening (140-160 days from germination to fruiting) tomato variety, intended for cultivation both in open ground and in film greenhouses.
The fruits are round, weighing 120-130 g. A special feature of the variety is the excellent keeping quality of the fruit (up to 6 months).
The plants are vigorous, indeterminate, simple inflorescences, with 6-8 fruits. Harvest in a greenhouse: up to 4.5 kg per plant. Resistant to tobacco mosaic virus and cladosporiosis.
Features of agricultural technology: for greenhouses.
It is recommended to plant no more than 3 plants per 1 m2, form them into one stem with a garter to a vertical support, and plant them in a timely manner.
Ripening time: late, fruits ripen after harvesting in 30-40 days.
Fruit: the fruits are round, dense, weighing 120-130 g, orange-yellow after ripening.
Resistance: complexly resistant to diseases.
Use: for long-term storage, saltling, canning.

Please note that... due to the fact that the fruits can be stored until March without loss of quality, the variety is especially recommended for northern regions, where there is an acute shortage of fresh vegetables in winter. Fruits can be transported over long distances without losing their presentation. Due to their dense consistency, the fruits are especially good when salted and pickled.
