Agricultural technology.
It reaches its greatest decorativeness in sunny places and fairly fertile soils.
Sowing is done in late April - early May in open ground, the seeds are lightly sprinkled with earth, maintaining a planting distance of 20-30 cm. For earlier flowering, it is possible to sow seedlings in early April, always in pots, as transplanting plants are not tolerated well. At a soil temperature of +18+25°C shoots appear on the 7-14th day.

* At present, much attention is again paid to the decorative qualities of sunflower. Of the 108 species of this plant, varieties of perennial species (of which there are few) and annual species, with the more decorative (yellow, orange, brown and two-tone) colouring of flowers, are used in landscape design.
Perennials in culture reach a height of only 1.2-1.8 m, and the flowers do not exceed 5-9 cm in diameter. Annual plants can be either giant (4-5 m) or not exceed 40 cm.
The sunflower has a rough, slightly prickly stem and the leaves are as hard as sandpaper. Do not plant it among shrubs or other tall flowers. Sunflower can hurt them.
The sunflower is so-called not only because it looks like the sun. Its inflorescence - a basket - always looks at the sun, even if it is hidden behind the clouds.
But, basically, sunflower is used to decorate flower beds in the open field. On the market now you can find varieties such as "Carmen" and "Red Sun". They are distinguished by dark-coloured inflorescences up to 1.6 m high.
The Carmen variety is also called a black sunflower because it has a dark purple, almost black inflorescence with a narrow black stripe around the bottom. Its terry inflorescence is characterized by the absence of pollen, which is important for allergy sufferers.
Decorating the gardens, the sunflower seems to welcome us, shaking its head, crowned with yellow, red and orange petals, reminiscent of solar prominences.
Sunflowers look good in the back row of a flower border. They make a striking impression when sown in a mass or as a flowering hedge.
