Celeriac "KOMPAKT" - Apium graveolens L. var. rapaceum (Mill.) Gaud.
Mid-season variety (the period from germination to the readiness of root crops is 140-150 days).
Leaves of medium length, dark green. Root crops are rounded, with a small number of lateral roots, weighing 400-500 g. The pulp is creamy white, retaining colour when blanched, and dense with a delicate spicy taste. Used fresh and dried. The storage stability is very good.
This variety is very resistant to flowering.
Celery is a very valuable spicy plant that has a specific but pleasant aroma due to the high content of essential oil. Root vegetables, in addition to vitamin C, are rich in carotene, B vitamins, organic acids, and mineral salts, which are very useful for the human body.
1 gramme = 1800-2500 seeds.
Agrotechnics.
Celery is grown from seedlings. Sowing seeds is carried out in late February - early March. The peculiarity of sowing celery seeds is that they cannot be heavily sprinkled with the earth - they must be on the surface in bright light, especially the first 3-7 days during the germination period.
Seedlings should be expected in 1-1.5 weeks. Watering should be done carefully, you can use a spray bottle. It is better to cover the seedling box with glass or film. (To obtain 100 plants, 0.1-0.2 g of seeds is enough).
At the age of 60 days, that is, in the phase of five true leaves, the seedlings are ready for planting. It is advisable to plant seedlings in a permanent place after May 15 (May 20-25), since if it falls under frost, then part of the plants will “go into the arrow”, and the root will become inedible (small and coarse).
Landing pattern 60 x 30 cm.
Further care consists of regular watering, fertilizing and loosening.
Harvest celeriac before hard frost sets in.
1 gram = 1800-2500 seeds.
