Perennial shrub of the Labiate family up to 50 cm high. It is unpretentious and frost-hardy. One place can be grown for 5-7 years.
Hyssop is rich in vitamins, mineral salts, leaves and shoots contain organic acids, glycosides, essential oils, tannins and pigments. Fresh and dried herbs are used as a spicy seasoning for various dishes and for canning vegetables. The essential oil obtained from hyssop is used in perfumery, cosmetics, in the manufacture of liqueurs and tinctures. The herb infusion is used for bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chest pains, tuberculosis, profuse sweating, menopause in women, as well as for chronic inflammatory processes of the gastrointestinal tract and digestive difficulties. Outwardly, the infusion of hyssop is used as a wound healing agent.
Agrotechnics.
Propagated through seedlings, direct sowing or dividing the bushes. Direct sowing is carried out before winter or early spring to a depth of 0.3-0.5 cm. Seeding rate 0.6-0.8 g per 1 m2. Seedlings appear in 10-14 days, they are periodically thinned out. To obtain seedlings, seeds are sown at the end of March. Hyssop is planted in a permanent place at the beginning of June according to the scheme of 50 g by 25 cm.
